Valentine’s Day Escape Room: A ‘Romantic’ Indoor Activity for Two

What is an Escape Room?

An escape room at Escape Reality is a game played in real life. Also known as puzzle rooms, live escapes, or room escapes, you and your team are immersed in a scenario where you have just 60 minutes to escape. You’ll battle against time to solve puzzles, overcome challenges, and escape the room! There are so many Escape Reality escape games to choose from. We have created captivating rooms across a number of genres, including horror, thriller, adventure, and family-friendly. From being transported inside the jungle-themed board game of Jungala, to escaping the world’s most maximum-security prison in Alcatraz or becoming a team of vampire hunters on the search for Nosferatu - there’s something for everyone!

Our rooms are designed for a variety of difficulty levels, so you can choose the best one to suit you based on your experience with escape rooms. So, if you’re a novice, we recommend starting with a room with a 3 or 4* difficulty rating, especially if it’s your first game as a couple. However, please do keep in mind that difficulty ratings can be subjective as something you find super easy may be challenging to someone else.

Why is an escape room a good Valentine’s date idea?

If you’re looking for some Valentine's fun with your bae, nothing says Valentine’s Day quite like a dozen red roses, a box of chocolates, or an escape room! An escape room at Escape Reality is the perfect activity for date night as it is a unique and memorable experience.

Whether you’re planning a first date, or you’ve been with your partner for years and are looking for a unique way to spend your valentines date, Escape Reality is a perfect idea. You can avoid the busy and crowded restaurants full of tables for two, and we may be a bit biased but we think our escape rooms are much more exciting than a box of chocolates. If you’re looking for an unusual valentines gift then an escape room game is a wonderful option. The two of you will need to collaborate effectively to progress through the highly themed and immersive room.

You will be alone inside the room, except for during the Game Master’s briefing and if you call for help. Just remember, even though you are alone inside the room, our Game Master’s are watching you on CCTV to monitor your progress through the game, so no canoodling!

Is an escape room a good activity for 2 people?

Have you ever heard the saying ‘too many cooks will spoil the broth’? Well, that can be true of escape rooms too. If you have too many strong personalities who believe that their way is always the best way, then you may find your group butting heads instead of working together to solve the puzzles. Having a group of 2 should help to make communication easier as you won’t be calling out ideas over each other or battling for the attention of the rest of the team. You can easily work together to systematically make your way through the puzzles and escape game.

Escape Reality’s escape rooms are a brilliant way to spend an hour together, without any interruptions from mobile phones or other people. You can make new memories together that you can cherish.

There are also practical benefits for tackling our escape rooms as a duo. With only 2 people inside the room, there’s no chance of it feeling overcrowded. This means that you have more space to search the room and are less likely to fall, victim to one of your teammates standing right in front of, and obstructing an important clue.

Escape rooms are also a great way to test your compatibility and whether or not you have what it tasks for a successful, long-lasting relationship. Are you able to communicate effectively without getting frustrated with each other? It’s a brilliant indicator of how you will be able to tackle any future problems you may face as a duo. Problem-solving is a huge component of any successful relationship, whether it’s small problems like what to have for dinner or bigger problems that require much more thought and collaboration to solve.

What are the challenges of an escape room for 2 people?

Although there are many pros to battling through the escape room as a twosome, there may also be some small hindrances to consider. When playing in a larger group, there will probably be more ideas thrown around which may help you solve puzzles more quickly. However, the quantity of ideas does not necessarily means these are quality ideas!

For treasure hunt-style escape room puzzles where you just need to find an item, a larger group may be more beneficial as there would be more eyes searching for the missing item.

Larger groups tend to split into smaller groups, meaning they can cover multiple puzzles simultaneously. However, an organized couple might be able to breeze through the puzzles more efficiently than a big group tackling random puzzles without organization. One smaller group within a large group of players may be trying to solve a puzzle with half of a clue that another smaller group may have the other half to. This can create delays in your puzzle-solving as you’re essentially withholding the full puzzle from each other.

If you’re not confident in your partner’s puzzle-solving abilities, then you can turn it into a double date by bringing another couple along and doubling up the brain power.
