Just as there are many movie genres, escape rooms based on movies come in all kinds of genres.
Mystery-themed escape rooms tend to be very popular. Escape rooms themselves are all fundamentally mysterious experiences. Your team must work together to hunt down the clues, discard the red herrings and solve the riddles, puzzles and challenges to ‘solve the case and secure your escape. Our mystery-themed rooms include Misery, Fibonacci, Murder in Whitechapel, Conspiracy, Seven, and Abducted. Mystery-themed escape rooms follow a narrative or storyline where you, as the players, are a team of detectives or subsequent visitors to a crime or event scene. You must then follow the clues and puzzles to solve the mystery of what has happened.
Whether you love or hate horror films, this usually translates into how you would feel about a horror-themed escape room game. Horror-themed rooms are not for the faint-hearted. In horror-themed escape rooms, the storyline tends to involve you as the player being thrust into the story and must solve the puzzles to escape the serial killer, bloodthirsty vampire or the spine-chilling cult. Just like in the movies, a horror-themed escape room experience can belong to various sub-genres. They can be on the bloody and gory side like our rooms, Enigmista and Apocalypse, or they can lean more towards being creepy and haunted like The Asylum and Scarlett. Our horror rooms include Ritual, Enigmista, The Asylum, Scarlett, Nosferatu, Apocalypse, Sairento and The Revenants.

If horror movies aren’t your kind, you’re bound to love our adventure-themed rooms. You’ll find adventure in Tortuga Pirates, Auron, Bank Job, Legend of the Mummy, Alcatraz, The Iron Kingdom, Machina, Jungala, The Heist or Down the Rabbit Hole. Our adventure rooms are designed only for the daring and brave! Whether you’re playing as a band of pirates scouring the seven seas for the hidden treasure, an astronaut leading your crew back to Earth with a safe landing or a team of investigative archaeologists travelling to the depths of the ancient pyramids to retrieve the Egyptian treasure you’re bound to have a thrilling experience.
Let us help you pick which Escape Reality room to play, based on your favourite movies!
If you’re a fan of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre or the Saw and Hostel franchises, you’re a fan of gore and won’t be squeamish when faced with a bit of blood. We recommend you play our Enigmista room and see if you have what it takes to escape the twisted killer’s lair. You can book Enigmista in Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leicester, Birmingham, Delhi and Newcastle, Australia.
For all of you who loved Florence Pugh’s breathtaking performance in Midsommar, or Rosemary’s Baby, The House of The Devil or The Cabin in the Wood, and fancy a challenging room, you’ll want to spend an hour in the abandoned cabin in our cult-classic Ritual escape room. Ritual is currently exclusively in our Manchester location.
If you found yourself enthralled in American Horror Story: Asylum, then you’ll want to break into our own derelict Asylum and see if you can communicate with the spirits that still roam the halls. You can play The Asylum in Manchester, Edinburgh and Coventry.
Are you more of an adventure lover? Were you hooked on the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean? You’ll love getting your crew together to sail the Mariposa across the turbulent seas and following the clues and booby traps until you uncover Derdrake’s hidden treasure. This game is available in Manchester, Edinburgh, Coventry, Delhi and Newcastle, Australia.
For those of you who think you’d be able to keep up with Andy and Red in Shawshank Redemption, or Scofield’s crew in Prison Break, you’ll want to try your hand in Alcatraz. See how you fare against the world-famous maximum-security prison and if you can break free before the warden returns. You can try and escape the walls of Alcatraz in Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leicester, Leeds, Coventry, Birmingham, Preston, Delhi or Newcastle, Australia.
If you’ve always fancied attending the Mad Hatter’s tea party, you might find yourself fitting in Down the Rabbit Hole. Head to the party and enter a new dimension where everything is topsy-turvy. This game is available in Leeds, Coventry and Las Vegas.

Sticking with the adventure theme, if you were hooked on Game of Thrones, book into The Iron Kingdom to represent your noble family, fight for your house and see who will take the throne. This escape game is available in Leeds, Birmingham, Dubai, Las Vegas and Dehli.
We don’t recommend playing an escape room that’s based on a film that you’re planning to watch for the first time after your game – they may contain spoilers! Watch the movie before you head to the game (but you don’t need to have watched the film to be able to play any of our games – we just don’t want to be the ones who spoil it for you!).
We promise that if you don’t make it out within the hour, you won’t suffer the same fate as those in the escape room film!
