Not only can you Escape Reality by being transported to another world in our escape rooms, but you can also escape reality and enter the Kunmi-verse. Introducing our collaboration with Kunmi Comics!
Timothy Oladoja, the creative mind behind Kunmi Comics, says, ‘To me, comics help express things when words are not enough.’ The British comic book artist and illustrator is just making his start in the comic industry. He specializes in comedy and horror stories with detailed pencil drawings. He greatly enjoys the comic-making process - especially thumbnailing and panelling. He takes his inspiration from cartoons, video games, horror films, frogs, and the people he loves.
Comics are a brilliant way to escape the world and enter a whole new reality, making this collaboration so fitting for us. Comics are an exceptional outlet that enables artists to express themselves. Not only are they great fun for adults, but they are also a fantastic tool to help children to communicate their thoughts, just as they did for Timothy.
Timothy recalls starting his career as a comic artist by creating the story concepts and jokes to be used in his funny comic strips. His talent for drawing and artistry came much later for him. As he got older, he refined his drawing skills and furthered his understanding of the intricacies of shading, to help capture his ideas in full detail. Timothy puts his creative and artistic development down to his family, university teachers, and artistic friends who all support his passion and inspired him to create new ideas and concepts.
He loves to interpret the world around us to design a whole new world, which brings us to the creation of Escape Reality X Kunmi Comics. After leaving university, Timothy’s path crossed with ours at Escape Reality, and we gave him the opportunity to create an exciting comic series with us. He says, ‘I am so excited by this amazing opportunity to work with Escape Reality. I originally found the transition from pencil to digital quite difficult, but it was wonderful to develop my skills further in a new form of media and have created a story that will take you to a different dimension.’
Ricky is our beloved protagonist. He has always liked a good puzzle and could never turn down a good challenge, but when he and a group of strangers get trapped in an escape room by a mad man, who calls himself the Master of Games, he’ll have to think outside the box in order to escape it. If he can’t, he’ll never... Escape Reality.
Everybody has had to take a late train on the central line at some point, but when this train goes rogue and takes a group of strangers to an abandoned station where they can’t escape, they have to work together to figure out the Master of Games’ puzzles and regain their freedom. However, all is not as it first appears, and the station may hold many more secrets than the team can handle...
Play along with the characters and see if you can solve the puzzles before they do and escape the Master of Games. It’s the perfect way to warm up for our real-life escape rooms!
Ricky is a very anti-social person, who often lets his imagination run wild. He turns to computers and puzzles to provide an escape from the real world. He’s always up for a challenge and loves nothing more than to show off his intelligence, even if it does tend to alienate people.
William is an optician, who views life through a very grumpy lens. He is a realist who takes the most logical approach to all aspects of life. He is very much a creature of habit, who spends every day at work, followed by an episode of Downton Abbey and a takeaway for one.
Rochelle is used to creating her own world, both in her daily life as well as at work where she designs her own virtual reality games. Very often, she is referred to as being in her own little bubble and likes things to always go her way. Though her overly authoritative nature has caused a rift between her and her co-workers, she’s eager to make it to the launch of her new VR game and smooth over relations with her co-workers with a night of celebration.
Mandeep is an energetic YouTuber determined to make it to 50k subs. He records almost every aspect of his daily life (everything that won’t get his account banned, at least). Mandeep wants to show his viewers the weirdest (but not always most wonderful) parts of London. To him, antagonizing people on the night tube seems to be an excellent way to make it to the top.
Phoebe is a good-natured, mild-mannered, and anxious type of person. She became a delivery worker to get out of her comfort zone and experience life. She figured by taking this job, she’d meet many new people from different walks of life and develop her people skills and worldview. However, her accident-prone nature has earned her beloved bicycle a one-way ticket to the scrap heap and earned her a travel card for the tube to complete all of her deliveries.
Brian is the lord of riddles and self-proclaimed Master of Games. He wants to force regular people into greatness in his self-imagined, self-built escape rooms. Nothing can stop this enthusiastic novice kidnapper from pushing people to their limits and seeing just how far they will go when their lives depend on it…
